What Is An Image Theft

Photographers make money by licensing photos of people and selling them. So it is highly ineffective for them when their images are being shared on social network websites and domains without any payment. This image theft has increased tremendously and has many victims already.

In many cases the image of a person is used as a fake identity by another person for the purpose of fraud and fooling people online. With the increase in technology, now it takes less than a minute to get the kind of image you want from the internet.  The younger generations of today have grown up using websites like Facebook and twitter and they see no crime in copying and posting images from one place of the web to another. So the best way to prevent something like this from happening is to not post your content online or to make sure that you have put enough privacy on your pictures that no stranger can get access to it.You are the copyright owner of the photograph as soon as you press the shutter button, it is protected by the law except when you're working for an organization and have agreed on the mutual sharing of that content. Copyright law of images are flexible for educational or news reportage categories for instance teachers can copy images from web to explain their lecture but book publishers cannot do this for  the purpose of selling their items.

You should know that a social media website cannot help you if your photos are being stolen. In fact, they actually want this to happen as they will get more active users when people share those images and they will end up making a lot more money.
